Meet the Jomnin team…
We are a group of business people and health professionals who support Healthland to help the church in Cambodia develop a health centre and food industry. We are all volunteers because we want to maximise the profits that are returned to support Cambodia.

Jomnin - Why another name?
Healthland, Vissot and now Jomnin! All these names seem confusing, but the reason is simple: Jomnin does not belong to Healthland or Vissot and has a separate management and set of goals and objectives. Vissot is a Cambodian owned industry that belongs to Healthland, a Cambodian owned non-government organisation.
Why was Jomnin started?
Individuals have imported Vissot’s products into Australia on a small scale and have received a great response from customers. Jomnin has been established to combine the experience of many business people and professionals to help overcome the barriers to larger scale imports. Not only do the Jomnin members want to help Vissot to export their products, grow their industry and provide more jobs, but they also want to generate import profits to support worthy Cambodian projects - the first being the establishment of an Adventist health centre in Cambodia.
Vissot Exhibition Booth - Phnom Penh
Earlier this year, Vissot had the opportunity to proudly promote their products at an exhibition in Phnom Penh.

Children with acute malnutrition
There is an urgent need in Cambodia for products to treat children with acute malnutrition. IRD (Institute for Research and Development) is collaborating with UNICEF-Cambodia and the Cambodian government to develop specialised foods for the treatment of children with moderate and severe malnutrition. Seeing the quality Vissot products in the market place, Healthland was approached to help develop the nutritious products which are being designed to suit the palate and nutritional needs of Cambodian children. The products, which are being researched now, will be based on locally available ingredients (rice, mungbean, oil, sugar) as well as imported ingredients (whey powder, vitamin-mineral premix).

Promotions
Promotions require a lot of work from dedicated volunteers but it has paid off with lots of support raised to help make Venture 1 a success.
Ross McKenzie was recently interviewed on an Infocus program which was broadcast on the Australian Christian Channel and Hope Channel.

Ben Carson and Vissot
Ben Carson recently visited Australia where his influence is well recognised. But few realise that his influence has also spread as far as Cambodia and inspired individuals to strive for great things. Ben Carson’s book, Think Big, was often given to Healthland students as a reading assignment in their English classes. One student came running into class one day excitedly waving a piece of paper in her hand. It was a scholarship to study in Japan. She had to pass an entrance exam and an interview and compete against a thousand applicants for the single scholarship. In the interview, she used the principles she had learned from Think Big to help answer the questions which she believes helped her pass the interview.

Ross McKenzie, one of the founders of Healthland, was also greatly influenced by Ben Carson. In the late 80’s, Ross lacked motivation at school and was placed in the bottom 30% of the state in the year 10 moderator. He quit school but couldn’t find work because of his poor school reports. One day, he read a Reader’s digest article about Ben Carson which changed his life. He started reading books and enrolled in boarding school and later graduated from year 12 with high grades. It was this experience that helped inspire Ross to provide opportunities for students in Cambodia to get an education and motivate them to strive for their best.
Performance Indicators
One of the best ways to determine how well a business is doing is by asking how satisfied the customers are. One of the aims of Jomnin is to demonstrate to others how well Vissot is performing to help attract customers and support. If Vissot is not performing well in certain areas, Jomnin helps Vissot get the support it needs to improve.
This gauge indicates how satisfied Jomnin is as a customer of Vissot. It is calculated using a number of criteria such as how well Vissot processes orders and responds to Jomnin’s needs. Jomnin helps provide feedback and support to Vissot to remain at the ‘Very satisfied customer’ end of the gauge. If Vissot can keep customers very satisfied, it will greatly improve their chances of export success. Your feedback and suggestions are also important.

Big thanks to all who have supported!
We have been delighted at the wonderful support given to this project. Many people have ordered curry online and shared it with their friends. Some churches have gathered support amongst members to order large cases of Vissot curry. Remember that if you order only 20 boxes of curry you will receive it postage free – a huge saving!
Others have made investments and ordered distribution packs. Thank you very much for all of your support.
