FAQs: Venture 1

What are the risks?
As with any business venture, there are risks. However, 'many hands make light work' and by recruiting the support of volunteer distributors the risks are small. The distributors will pay for their orders up-front, therefore, the crate load of curry will be sold and paid for before buying the crate of curry from Vissot. Distributors and Jomnin ambassadors can help to promote the products in their area as well as distribute leaflets. After a few years and with increasing volumes the costs will be reduced and we will have more capacity and experience to make distribution of product through shops more viable.
Another risk is the quality control issues and regulations with importing products into Australia. John Menzies, Geoff Drewer and other Santiarium employees are providing lots of support to ensure that there aren't any major issues. The Sanitarium export department will also help to look after the shipping and import process

Why not sell through shops and established distributors?
In future ventures, the aim will be to eventually sell Vissot products through retail outlets, however, there are a lot of costs and risks involved. Distributing product initially through volunteers will help us to be able to keep the costs down, iron out technical and quality control issues, promote the product and get people involved and interested in the industry, health centre and student support program.

What other products could be imported?
Vissot curry is the first product we will be importing. However, there are a range of other Vissot products that we could import in future ventures. Students in the student support program will also help to develop new exportable products.
